Brent Platt, FSCU Board Chair

DIRECTOR OF HUMAN SERVICES, DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES (Retired)

BRENT PLATT

Brent Platt recently retired from the Department of Human Services after 32 years, where he worked as a caseworker, front line supervisor, and in various administrative roles within Utah's Division of Child and Family Services.  He most recently served as a Legislative Liaison for the Department of Human Services.  While serving as Director of Utah's Division of Child and Family Services, Brent championed efforts to improve Utah's child welfare system, including centralizing the statewide Child Abuse Reporting Hotline, and leading the effort to enhance In-Home services model (HomeWorks) which focuses on supporting children and families in their homes by regular and more frequent engagement with caseworkers.

He believes in the value of a transformational approach to leading, and involving consumers, policymakers, faith leaders, advocates and critics, allied agencies, and agency employees in building a brighter future for Utah's children and families. Brent's experience within Utah's child welfare system has helped him develop a well-rounded understanding of statewide issues and needs.

Brent's goal is to continue to support new, improved, and collaborative approaches to help children and families.

He currently works as a clinician at the Greenhouse Center for Growth and Learning in Pleasant Grove.
