Family Support Center of Carbon County

Family Support Center of Carbon County

The Carbon County Family Support and Children’s Justice Center have been in operation since 1996. Located at 80 South Fairgrounds Road in Price, Utah, we were established when a group of dedicated individuals was inspired to respond to the needs of our community. As with many programs and businesses, we started very small, with only two employees to staff and operate our Crisis Nursery. Today, more than 20 years later, we are a fully operating Family Support Center, providing Crisis/Respite services, shelter care, a home visiting program, and parenting classes. Our greatest asset is our community’s support, and our greatest achievements are caring for children and helping to strengthen Carbon County’s families.

Services Offered

Crisis Nursery

The Crisis Nursery is designed to provide a safe, homelike setting where parents can bring their children when the family is in a stressful situation. Children who are 0-11 years can stay at the Crisis Nursery. Children can be brought in only by the parents or legal guardian and may stay for periods of up to 72 hours.

Meet the Director

Shelley Wright is the Executive Director of the Family Support and Children’s Justice Centers of Carbon and Emery Counties. Ms. Wright’s role as the executive director gives her the capacity to lead a team of caring and professional individuals. Within this capacity, Shelley manages several programs that aid in the prevention and treatment of child abuse and neglect. She has been in this position for over twenty-one years, including 7 & ½ years with the Division of Child and Family Services as a Child Protective Service Lead Worker. Shelley received her bachelor's degree in Family Human Development, with an emphasis of Marriage and Family Therapy. When Ms. Wright is not mentoring and managing her team, you can find her with her family in the mountains, on a lake, or simply barbecuing in her backyard. Ms. Wright is excited to be a champion where she can apply her professional and personal experiences to contribute to positive changes in her community.

History & Impact

The Carbon County Family Support Center is co-located with the Carbon County Children's Justice Center. We are located at 80 South Fairground Rd, Price, UT, just nestled between residential settings, community-based agencies, and the views of Castle County. We offer a quaint, safe place to drop-off and pick-up children for care. Our facility is surrounded by grass with a mature landscape, and a large, covered playground in the back. Inside our facility we offer two large boys' and girls' bedrooms, and a nursery for infants and toddlers. The children's play area is open, large, and full of fun activities. The kitchen offers a large island where children can craft, eat, or just hang out. The playground offers many activities to keep the children active, healthy, and creative. Our facility is equipped with all the necessities to provide hygiene care, clothing, first aid, cleaning, meals and snacks, and most importantly, loving care from our staff. Our conference room is a great place for parents to attend parent education courses.
