Family Support Center of Ogden

The Family Support Center of Ogden has been supporting families to prevent child abuse since 1979 and has the longest continually running in-home parenting education program in the state of Utah. We provide parenting education classes, youth development, adoption respite care and crisis nursery care, as well as helping to link families to appropriate community resources.

Services Offered

Crisis Nursery

When parents have no one to turn to for childcare during stress, emergencies or self-help appointments, they can bring their children to the Crisis Nursery. We are committed to providing a safe, healthy, nurturing atmosphere for all children in our care. Many people think that families can only use the Nursery when they are experiencing an emergency. However, we love preventing emergencies and encourage parents to utilize the Nursery before they are of being overwhelmed. Prevention is just as important as intervention.

Adoption Respite

This program offers childcare services to families who have adopted a child through the State of Utah’s Division of Child and Family Services.  Many children have severe behavioral challenges that make it difficult for the babysitter down the street to provide care. We provide specialty care to allow parents a much-needed respite break.

Parenting Classes

The Family Support Center of Ogden provides a wide range of parenting education classes throughout the year designed to support caregivers at every stage of their parenting journey. These classes cover topics such as positive discipline, child development, communication skills, stress management, and building strong family relationships, helping parents gain practical tools and confidence in their roles. A key benefit of these programs is that free childcare is provided during class sessions, making it easier for parents to attend and fully engage without worrying about supervision for their children. By offering a supportive, accessible, and educational environment, the center helps strengthen families and promotes healthier, more stable home lives within the community.

In-home Parenting Education

The Division of Child and Family Services refers families to receive in-home parenting education and hands on instruction to prevent and alleviate the risks of child abuse and neglect, strengthen the family unit, and increase life skills. This unique program is effective because it allows the peer parents to work intensively with each family in their homes. We really gain an understanding of each family’s different dynamics. After a new parenting skill is taught and discussed; home practice exercises are assigned so that we can really determine what is working and needs further improvement.

Parenting Pathways Resource Center

Parenting Pathways Resource Center is a community-focused organization dedicated to strengthening families by providing education, support, and resources for parents and caregivers. It offers a range of services such as parenting classes, early childhood development programs, support groups, and referrals to local services, all designed to promote healthy child development and positive family relationships. The center often works with families facing challenges like economic stress, behavioral concerns, or social isolation, helping them build confidence and practical skills in raising children. Through a compassionate, inclusive approach, Parenting Pathways Resource Center aims to empower families and create a supportive network that benefits both parents and their children.

History & Impact

The Family Support Center of Ogden is a trusted, community-focused nonprofit dedicated to strengthening families and preventing child abuse in northern Utah. For more than four decades, we’ve stood alongside parents, caregivers, and children—offering compassionate, free services that foster resilience, connection, and healthy family functioning. Our work is guided by the belief that every family deserves support, encouragement, and the tools to thrive.

At the heart of our mission is prevention: we empower families before struggles escalate, helping build safe and nurturing environments where children feel secure and parents feel confident. We offer a wide range of programs tailored to meet families where they are in life, from infancy through adolescence. These services are provided at no cost and are designed to be accessible, respectful, and strength-based—focused on building skills, confidence, and connection rather than judgment.

Families can take advantage of The Kid’s Zone, a welcoming respite childcare space where children can play, learn, and be cared for in a nurturing atmosphere while parents rest, attend appointments, or engage in other responsibilities. We also provide specialized Adoption Respite for foster and adoptive families who need a break from the ongoing challenges of intensive caregiving.

Our Parenting Education opportunities include free classes that equip caregivers with practical tools, emotional support, and strategies for raising children with respect and confidence.

Recognizing that every family journey is unique, we offer In-Home Parent Education and Parent Café groups—safe, supportive spaces where caregivers can connect, share experiences, and learn from one another. In addition, our Family Advocate Services help link families to essential community resources, including employment support, housing, childcare assistance, and more.

Whether a family is facing everyday parenting challenges or navigating a crisis, the Family Support Center of Ogden is here to walk alongside them with dignity, compassion, and hope. Our vision is a community where every child is loved, every caregiver feels supported, and every family has the resources they need to flourish.
